If you follow Upstate football, Friday night's playoff game had a backstory. Greenville beat rival Greer 38-28 at Dooley Field in the Class 4A opening round, and Greer's season ended. Greenville led 28-7 before halftime, and Kiishawn Farrow passed for three touchdowns and ran for one.

Greer earned the home date after being awarded a 2-0 forfeit win over Greenville in the regular season, which put the Yellow Jackets ahead of the Red Raiders in the Region 1-4A standings. Greenville had won that October meeting 61-28 on the field before the result was overturned over an ineligible player. After the final whistle, Greer coach Will Young crossed to the Greenville sideline to congratulate the winners.

  • Greer finishes the year at 7-4
  • Greenville is now 6-5
  • Next: Greenville at rested Westside (9-1) on Nov. 13

The Wrap

Before the American Revolution became a history lesson, it was a long run of skirmishes and all-out battles between Patriots and Loyalists that spread through the 13 Colonies from 1775 to 1783. The Upcountry History Museum in Greenville has an American Revolution exhibit now open, and it's a nice way to spend a partly cloudy Tuesday, Nov. 10, with a high of 72. History looks good in daylight.
